From desert-adapted lions, elephants & rhinos to the iconic dunes of Sossusvlei & the Skeleton Coast

Highlights

  • A wild, immersive journey through Namibia, connecting dramatic landscapes with meaningful encounters with people and conservation.

  • Take to the skies on scenic light aircraft flights, revealing the vast scale of deserts, dunes and remote wilderness.

  • Track desert adapted wildlife including elephant, lion and rhino across stark, shifting landscapes shaped by survival.

  • Explore Namibia’s icons, from the towering dunes of Sossusvlei to the raw, windswept Skeleton Coast.

  • Stay in three luxurious camps and experience NamibRand Nature Reserve, a designated Wilderness Quiet Park and Dark Sky Reserve, with exceptional stargazing, fascinating fairy circles and expert guiding throughout.

Locations

  • NamibRand Nature Reserve is a vast private wilderness of dunes, gravel plains and inselbergs where oryx and springbok move across open horizons. Recognised as Africa’s first Wilderness Quiet Park and an International Dark Sky Reserve, it offers rare stillness by day and exceptional stargazing by night.

  • Sossusvlei (Namib-Naukluft National Park) is an iconic dune sea where shifting light sculpts towering sands and fossil clay pans. Dawn reveals sweeping views from the dune crests and stark, photogenic contrasts across the pans and vleis.

  • Hoanib Valley (Kaokoveld) is a remote, river-carved landscape at the meeting of desert and mountains. Ephemeral watercourses sustain desert-adapted elephants, lions, rhinos and giraffe alongside small Himba communities.

  • The Skeleton Coast wind-shaped dunes, Atlantic fog and lonely beaches dotted with shipwrecks define this wild shoreline. Cape fur seals, coastal scavengers and far-ranging desert wildlife thrive in surprising abundance.

Lodges

  • 1 night at Olive Grove Guesthouse: This boutique hotel combines stylish architecture, simple but carefully selected decoration, and personal service.

  • 3 nights at Kwessi Dunes: Elegant desert retreat with “stargazer” rooms, wide-angle views and activities including scenic drives, quad biking, guided walks and superb night skies.

  • 3 nights at Hoanib Valley Camp: Solar-powered, low-impact camp set among rugged ridges and dunes, perfectly placed for tracking desert-adapted wildlife and visiting Himba communities.

  • 2 nights at Shipwreck Lodge: Architecturally striking suites tucked into coastal dunes near the Hoarusib River mouth, offering nature drives, dune and beach explorations and dramatic scenic flights along the coast.

Timing

The best time to travel is from April to October, when Namibia enjoys clear skies, cool mornings and warm days - ideal for flying safaris and wildlife viewing. November to March brings hotter temperatures and occasional rain, with spectacular light for photography and fewer visitors.

Handcrafted experiential safaris since 1991.

Travel in Africa is about knowing when and where to go, and with whom. A few weeks too early/late or a few kilometres off course, and you could miss the greatest show on Earth. And wouldn’t that be a pity?
