Locations
The Okavango Delta is a verdant inland delta formed by the mighty Okavango River flowing into the Kalahari Desert, a unique ecosystem shaped by annual floodwaters from Angola and channels engineered by hippos and elephants. The lush Okavango Delta teems with diverse wildlife, including the Big Five, wild dog, cheetah, hippo and pangolin.
Moremi Game Reserve forms part of the Okavango Delta ecosystem.
Savute in the western portion of Chobe National Park is renowned for its lions that hunt young elephants during the peak of the dry season. Perhaps the most famous Savute landmark is the enigmatic Savute channel, which empties into the Savute Marsh. This once-forgotten river was dry from the late 19th century until it began to flow again in 1958. Since then, it has followed an entirely unpredictable rhythm, drying up for decades at a time, before flowing once again.
Lodges

Timing
The ideal time to travel is June to October, when Moremi and the Okavango Delta are in full flood, and Savute offers excellent visibility and predator sightings.
Wildlife concentrates around permanent water sources, maximising sightings of elephants, predators, and birdlife. The cooler dry season climate provides comfortable safari conditions, while the Delta’s waterways remain navigable for mokoro excursions.
The rainy season months (December to March/April) are excellent for bird-watchers looking to make the most of the influx of migratory species, as well as for seeing plenty of wildlife babies and predator action, as the big cats focus on young prey.

This safari is designed for children aged 6–12. All three lodges — Camp Okavango, Camp Moremi, and Savute Safari Lodge — welcome children from age 6. Activities are flexibly tailored by dedicated Safari Heroes to suit different ages and energy levels.
The Okavango Delta, Moremi, and Savute are low-risk malaria areas, though prophylaxis is strongly recommended for all travellers including children. The June–October travel window also carries the lowest seasonal risk. Consult your doctor at least two weeks before departure for personalised advice.
June to October is ideal — the dry season brings cooler temperatures, the lowest malaria risk, and concentrated wildlife around water sources. The rainy season (December to March) suits families keen on newborn animals, birdlife, and dramatic predator activity.
