Locations
Entebbe is a vibrant city on Lake Victoria's shores, known for its lush gardens, rich history, and excellent restaurants. It is also home to the country's main international airport. Entebbe is a short drive (traffic-dependent) from Kampala, the capital city of Uganda, which offers urban attractions such as markets, museums, and cultural sites.
Kibale National Park is Uganda's premier chimpanzee trekking destination, with more than 1,000 chimps. It hosts 12 species of primates - including golden monkey and the shy and elusive East African potto. On the park’s fringes, the community-run Bigodi Wetland is a popular attraction for primate enthusiasts and birders. Kibale National Park adjoins the northern edge of Queen Elizabeth National Park.
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site with ancient rainforests boasting among the highest levels of biodiversity in Uganda. Bwindi’s misty slopes shelter the endangered mountain gorilla and offer some of Africa's best gorilla trekking opportunities. The region also offers excellent birdwatching, cultural experiences, coffee tours, and scenic hikes.

The best time to enjoy this epic primate trekking adventure is during Uganda’s dry seasons, from June to September and December to February, when forest trails are drier, wildlife viewing is easier, and photography conditions are ideal.

Day 1 – Arrive at Entebbe International Airport, where you are met and privately transferred to your guesthouse for a relaxed overnight stay.
Day 2 – Travel west from Entebbe by private 4WD via Fort Portal, through rolling countryside, tea plantations and the foothills of the Rwenzori Mountains, to the Kasenda crater lakes region, arriving in the afternoon to unwind and enjoy the tranquil surroundings.
Day 3 – Explore the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary on a guided nature walk, then head into Kibale Forest in the afternoon for an unforgettable chimpanzee trekking experience before returning to your lodge.
Day 4 – Drive to Kasese for a scheduled light aircraft flight to Kisoro, then transfer to Lake Mutanda for a scenic boat crossing into the Gorilla Highlands, continuing by road to the highlands of Nkuringo above Bwindi, arriving by mid-afternoon.
Day 5 – A free day to relax and explore Nkuringo at your own pace, ending with sundowners at the spectacular Top of the World viewpoint.
Day 6 – Set out on a once-in-a-lifetime gorilla trekking adventure in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, coming face to face with these remarkable, gentle giants.
Day 7 – Transfer back to Kisoro for your scheduled flight to Entebbe, with a stop for lunch before continuing to the international airport for your departure home.

Gorilla trekking in Bwindi takes place in dense, mist-shrouded mountain rainforest. Treks are guided by expert rangers, and guests are encouraged to hire a porter to carry their pack, which makes the day considerably easier and supports local families.
This safari dedicates a full day to gorilla trekking in Bwindi and a full day to chimpanzee trekking in Kibale. On your leisure day at Nkuringo, you also have the option to book a second gorilla trek.
All gorilla and chimpanzee treks are accompanied by expert guides and rangers who manage the experience safely. Kibale's chimpanzees and Bwindi's gorilla families are habituated, meaning they are accustomed to human presence.
