An immersive seven-day journey through Uganda's most remarkable forests. Trek for chimpanzees in the dense Kibale rainforest of the crater lake region and mountain gorillas in the mist-shrouded mountains of Bwindi.
Gorilla and chimp trekking have been described by many of our safari guests as life-changing experiences. Time spent with these fellow great apes is a humbling, profoundly spiritual experience that should be at the top of your bucket list.
Primate encounters: Trek deep into Uganda’s forests for two extraordinary experiences — chimpanzee trekking in Kibale and gorilla trekking in Bwindi, guided by expert rangers.
Wetland & forest walks: Explore the Bigodi Wetlands and Bwindi’s forest trails, alive with tropical birds, colobus monkeys, and lush vegetation.
Cultural connections: Visit a local coffee farm to learn the art of sustainable cultivation and share stories with community farmers in the scenic Kisoro hills.
Sundowners with a spectacular view: Unwind with a drink at Nkuringo’s “Top of the World” viewpoint, where panoramic views stretch across to the Rwenzori 'Mountains of the Moon'.
Authentic lodges: Stay in handpicked forest and crater-lake retreats that blend natural beauty with warm Ugandan hospitality.

Entebbe is a vibrant city on Lake Victoria's shores, known for its lush gardens, rich history, and excellent restaurants. It is also home to the country's main international airport. Entebbe is a short drive (traffic-dependent) from Kampala, the capital city of Uganda, which offers urban attractions such as markets, museums, and cultural sites.
Kibale National Park is Uganda's premier chimpanzee trekking destination, with more than 1,000 chimps. It hosts 12 species of primates - including golden monkey and the shy and elusive East African potto. On the park’s fringes, the community-run Bigodi Wetland is a popular attraction for primate enthusiasts and birders. Kibale National Park adjoins the northern edge of Queen Elizabeth National Park.
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site with ancient rainforests boasting among the highest levels of biodiversity in Uganda. Bwindi’s misty slopes shelter the endangered mountain gorilla and offer some of Africa's best gorilla trekking opportunities. The region also offers excellent birdwatching, cultural experiences, coffee tours, and scenic hikes.

"Uganda, Gorilla Trekking is an unforgettable experience and I would highly recommend it." Rachael, Australia
"You cannot imagine what it is like trekking through an impenetrable rainforest, and come upon gorillas after hours of walking, me with my two porters holding my hand, and seeing the gorillas in Bwindi, and the Chimpanzees in Kibale. The trekking ... provided a glimpse of the knowledge needed by the rangers to get in and out of the forest." Gerald, USA
The best time to enjoy this epic primate trekking adventure is during Uganda’s dry seasons, from June to September and December to February, when forest trails are drier, wildlife viewing is easier, and photography conditions are ideal.

Christian Boix, AG Uganda safari expert: “Crouched in dappled light, heart pounding louder than cicadas, I met the calm gaze of a silverback—wise, amused, and immense. For a breathless moment, I wasn’t the observer but the observed, reminded of our shared origins.”
Ramona Cilliers, AG Uganda safari expert: “Two of Uganda’s most incredible inhabitants, pairing Chimps with Gorillas, give an even deeper view into the secrets of the primate world. On this journey, you encounter dramatic chimps and intimidating Silverbacks in succession.”
Our destination expert, Nadia Lautenbach, says, “On your leisure day at Nkuringo, seize the chance for a second gorilla trek — an unforgettable encounter with these magnificent primates, deep in the misty Bwindi forest, a memory that lingers forever.”
