HANDCRAFTED EXPERIENTIAL SAFARIS

Trust us to find you the rarest animals, the most spectacular wildlife events, the remotest landscapes and deeply meaningful cultural encounters!

An exquisite luxury journey combining the unparalleled Big Five safari experience of Timbavati in the Greater Kruger with the iconic Victoria Falls - The Smoke That Thunders - and the Chobe Riverfront.

Imagine drifting silently along the Chobe River as elephants – hundreds of them – come down to drink, bathe, and play just meters away. Or quietly observing a leopard mother and her two cubs play a few meters away, with no other tourists around. Or gazing down from a helicopter - the 'Flight of Angels' - over the mighty Zambezi River and Victoria Falls.

Now imagine all of that, and more, in one safari. Welcome to the reality that our safari experts can help you plan and enjoy.

3 countries & 3 iconic parks in one safari !

Highlights

  • Incredible wildlife viewing - including the Big Five (lions, leopards, elephants, rhinos and buffalo) as well as cheetahs, wild dogs, hyenas and more

  • Exclusive, low-footprint safari experience in Timbavati, where you will often enjoy wildlife encounters without any other vehicles, and at most three

  • A range of activities, assuring excellent, varied wildlife viewing - including guided morning, evening and nighttime (spotlight) game drives, walking safaris, and boat-based safaris on the Chobe and Zambezi rivers.

  • 3 iconic parks and countries in one safari

  • The iconic Victoria Falls, where optional activities of both the adrenaline-seeking and tranquillity kind include bungee jumping, white-water rafting, helicopter scenic flights, sundowner boat cruises on the Zambezi River, game drives and horse riding.

Locations

  • Timbavati, Greater Kruger, a private reserve that shares an open ecosystem with Kruger National Park, is home to the legendary Big Five (lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and rhino) and other species such as cheetahs, wild dogs, zebras, hyenas and giraffes. Greater Kruger access is exclusive to lodge guests, ensuring a private wildlife experience.

  • Victoria Falls - Africa's adventure capital - marks the spot where the mighty Zambezi River gathers its strength and tumbles into dramatic gorges 100 metres below: the single largest continuous falling curtain of water in the world. To immerse yourself in that thumping energy of the Smoke that Thunders is to recharge your batteries. Victoria Falls is rightly on most safari bucket lists - you could spend weeks there and enjoy a new experience every day.

  • Chobe Riverfront in the massive Chobe National Park attracts huge herds of elephants and buffalo in the dry season, offering fantastic photographic opportunities as they bathe and drink in the late afternoon sunlight. Chobe wildlife includes four of the Big Five (only rhinos are absent), cheetahs, hyenas, wild dogs and plenty of other species.

Lodges

  • 4 nights at Tanda Tula Safari Camp, Timbavati, Greater Kruger, South Africa: a modern lodge overlooking the seasonal Nhlaralumi River and a waterhole that attracts a stream of animals and birds.

  • 3 nights at Victoria Falls River Lodge, Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe: a traditional thatched lodge on the banks of the Zambezi River in Zambezi National Park, just upstream of the iconic Victoria Falls.

  • 2 nights at Chobe Chilwero, bordering Chobe National Park, Botswana: a traditional thatched lodge offering panoramic views across the Chobe River islands and floodplains, to Namibia.

Timing

The best time to view wildlife in Timbavati, Chobe and Victoria Falls is June to mid-November - the dry season - when animals congregate near available water and vegetation is sparse, resulting in better wildlife encounters. Note that September to November will be warm to hot, whereas May to August offers mild temperatures.

The dry season also coincides with lower Zambezi River water levels at Victoria Falls - ensuring a clear view of the Falls, exciting river rafting and less spray to fog your camera lens.

The rainy season months (December to March/April) are excellent for bird-watchers looking to make the most of the influx of migratory species, and for seeing plenty of wildlife babies and predator action as the big cats focus on young prey. These months also see higher Zambezi River levels and more spray at Victoria Falls, resulting in dramatic scenes that are not as clearly visible as they are during the dry months.

You can enjoy this safari at any time of year, with careful planning. Our safari experts will help you make the best timing decision.
