South Luangwa National Park: Full-day game drive at Nkonzi, tracking wildlife on a walking safari and breakfasts in the bush. Did anyone mention leopards? Lions, wild dogs and hyenas are seen regularly, and the Thornicroft’s giraffe (subspecies of the Masai giraffe) is endemic to the area.
Nankoma Island, Lake Malawi: Enjoy a sunset cruise around the Merelli islands with sundowners, snorkel with colourful cichlids, explore on a kayak, visit the spa, head out on nature trails and chill at the pool or on soft-sand beaches

Victoria Falls water levels are highest in February to July, peaking in April, creating dramatic spray, a thundering sound & mist. From August to January, water levels drop, offering clearer views, great photo opportunities, & thrilling activities like Devil’s Pool & Livingstone Island. In South Luangwa, the dry season (May to October) is best for wildlife sightings as animals gather around limited water sources. The wet season (November to April) brings lush landscapes & excellent birding.
At Lake Malawi, visiting during the dry months (April to November) is best for crystal-clear waters, snorkelling, & beach relaxation. Travel between May & October offers the best overall experience. Let us tailor-make this safari idea to deliver the holiday of a lifetime for you & your family.
Stefan Winterboer, Zambia safari expert: "From our lodge, the Luangwa stretched for kilometres. Hippos in the shallows, pelicans riding thermals, elephants bathing for hours. A wild, ever-changing stage just metres from where we sipped cold beer in the heat."
Sally-Anne Follet-Smith, Victoria Falls safari expert: "Drifting as one of the only boats on the river offers magical moments-quietly watching hippos surface for air, undisturbed, in peaceful company."
Christian Boix, Malawi safari expert: "At Chundukwa, it’s more than sunsets and shady trees – it’s the joy of being warmly recognised, pampered, and made to feel truly special by a welcoming, familiar team."
This 13-day adventure blends riverside tranquillity, thrilling safaris, and lakeside bliss across Zambia and Malawi. After a final morning drive, fly to Lusaka for a night at Wild Dogs Lodge, before continuing to Lilongwe, Malawi, for a restful overnight at Burley House, a tranquil guesthouse in the leafy suburbs.
