HANDCRAFTED EXPERIENTIAL SAFARIS

Trust us to find you the rarest animals, the most spectacular wildlife events, the remotest landscapes and deeply meaningful cultural encounters!

Why visit Moremi?

At the heart of the Okavango Delta lies Moremi Game Reserve, including the wildlife-rich Chief's Island. Moremi is named after Chief Moremi of the BaTawana tribe, whose family used the area for hunting before declaring it a protected area.

This Botswana watery paradise is one of the Seven Natural Wonders of Africa and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Home to an astonishing variety of wildlife, Moremi is on most safari bucket lists and a repeat destination for many experienced travellers.

The range of safari activities includes day and night game drives, walking safaris, motorboats, helicopter sightseeing and mokoro outings. Add to that a wide variety of camps and lodges, and you can understand why the Okavango is a safari mecca.

Big cats, wild dogs and other wildlife

The wildlife sightings are extraordinary in Moremi, offering anything from the Big 5 (although rhinos are not often seen) to enormous herds of red lechwe plunging through the shallow floodplains, secretive sitatunga, wild dog, cheetah, two hyena species and massive herds of buffalo and elephant.

Moremi's stunning landscapes

The Moremi landscape is dominated by the twisting channels of the Okavango River and its tributaries, deep lagoons lined by thick beds of papyrus and reeds, seasonal floodplains, islands lined by huge riverine trees and higher lying areas covered in mopane and camelthorn woodland.

Bird watching

Northern Botswana plays host to about 450 bird species, including western banded snake-eagle, pennant-winged nightjar, collared palm-thrush, brown firefinch, slaty egret, African skimmer, pygmy goose, rock pratincole and African finfoot.

Why Moremi is a responsible safari choice

Your Africa Geographic safari to Moremi Game Reserve contributes directly to the conservation of the game reserve to the benefit of local people because:

  • We donate a portion of every safari sold to selected conservation efforts at ground level.

  • Your safari supports our conservation publishing efforts, which educate the world about Moremi, the Okavango Delta and other threatened ecosystems.

  • Our chosen lodges support local community initiatives, ensuring that tourism benefits the nearby villages directly. They also adhere to strict environmental practices, such as limited vehicle numbers and sustainable camp operations, which help protect the ecosystem.
