Highlights

  • Experience thrilling game drives in prime wilderness areas with close-up sightings of Africa’s most iconic wildlife.

  • Ride the Table Mountain cable car, explore vibrant Cape Town and cruise to Seal Island on a private Peninsula tour.

  • Savour award-winning wines, gourmet cuisine and timeless Cape culture in picture-perfect valleys.

  • Glide by mokoro and boat through the Okavango and Chobe, where elephants and predators roam free.

  • Feel the spray of Victoria Falls, drift along sunset rivers and follow the waterways that define this journey.

Locations

  • The Greater Kruger, a collection of private reserves that share an open ecosystem with Kruger National Park, is home to the legendary Big Five (lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and rhino) and other species such as cheetahs, wild dogs, zebras, hyenas and giraffes. Greater Kruger access is exclusive to lodge guests, ensuring a private wildlife experience.

  • Blyde River Canyon is the third-largest and greenest canyon in the world. The Canyon lies along the Drakensberg escarpment and looms over South Africa's Lowveld and Greater Kruger.

  • Cape Town, South Africa's vibrant 'Mother City', is dominated by the majestic Table Mountain, ringed by pristine white-sand beaches like Clifton and Boulders (home to charming penguins). Cape Town offers a rich cultural experience at the V&A Waterfront, a poignant visit to Robben Island, and stunning Cape Peninsula tours. A short drive away, the Cape Winelands offers historic wine estates featuring Cape Dutch architecture, award-winning wines and 5-star restaurants amidst breathtaking landscapes.

Locations - continued

  • The Okavango Delta is a verdant inland delta formed by the mighty Okavango River flowing into the Kalahari Desert, a unique ecosystem shaped by annual floodwaters from Angola and channels engineered by hippos and elephants. The lush Okavango Delta teems with diverse wildlife, including the Big Five (lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo & rhino), wild dog, cheetah, hippo and pangolin.

  • Chobe Riverfront in the massive Chobe National Park attracts huge herds of elephants and buffalo in the dry season, offering fantastic photographic opportunities as they bathe and drink in the late afternoon sunlight. Chobe wildlife includes four of the Big Five (only rhinos are absent), cheetahs, hyenas, wild dogs and plenty of other species.

  • Victoria Falls - Africa's adventure capital - marks the spot where the mighty Zambezi River gathers its strength and tumbles into dramatic gorges 100 metres below: the single largest continuous falling curtain of water in the world. To immerse yourself in that thumping energy of the Smoke that Thunders is to recharge your batteries. Victoria Falls is rightly on most safari bucket lists - you could spend weeks there and enjoy a new experience every day.

Timing

The most popular period for this luxurious itinerary, encompassing Cape Town, the Greater Kruger, the Okavango Delta, Chobe and Victoria Falls, is from August to mid-November.

July to mid-November marks the dry season in South Africa's Greater Kruger and Botswana - when wildlife sightings are at their best due to less vegetation cover and the lack of surface water forcing wildlife to congregate near permanent water sources. This period also sees lower Zambezi River water levels at Victoria Falls - ensuring a clear view of the Falls, exciting river rafting and less spray to fog your camera lens.

Cape Town and the Cape Winelands enjoy a Mediterranean climate, characterised by cold, wet winter months (June to September) that transition into warm, dry summer months from October to March, offering ideal conditions for outdoor exploration and wine tasting.

You can enjoy this safari at any time of year, with careful planning. Our safari experts will help you make the best timing decision.
