Locations
Nairobi is Kenya’s vibrant capital city, a gateway where modern life meets colonial history and leafy suburbs shelter art galleries, cafés and gardens.
Maasai Mara National Reserve. Kenya’s most celebrated wilderness, the Maasai Mara, is the stage for Africa’s great wildlife drama – from the thunder of the Great Migration to intimate predator encounters in the golden grasslands. Year-round, it offers extraordinary diversity and energy, the essence of safari itself.
Entebbe is a vibrant city on the shores of Lake Victoria, known for its lush gardens, rich history, and excellent restaurants. It is also home to the country's main international airport. Entebbe is a short drive (traffic permitting) from Kampala, Uganda's capital, which offers urban attractions such as markets, museums, and cultural sites.
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage rainforest and one of the last remaining sanctuaries for mountain gorillas. Bwindi’s misty slopes shelter the endangered mountain gorilla and offer some of Africa's best gorilla trekking opportunities. The region also offers excellent birdwatching, cultural experiences, coffee tours, and scenic hikes.
Lodges
1 night at Tamarind Tree Hotel (Nairobi). A contemporary city base with a calm, leafy feel; polished, comfortable, and well placed for an easy overnight before flying into the bush.
4 nights at Sentinel Mara Camp (Maasai Mara National Reserve). A classic tented camp atmosphere with understated comfort and a strong safari focus. The kind of place that feels connected to the landscape while remaining refined and restful.
1 night at Papyrus Guesthouse (Entebbe). A relaxed, garden-set guesthouse offering a comfortable overnight close to the airport and a simple, pleasant start to Uganda.
3 nights at Ichumbi Gorilla Lodge (Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Rushaga). A welcoming lodge on the edge of Bwindi, designed for comfort after trekking days, with a warm atmosphere and a wonderful sense of being close to the forest.
Timing
The ideal time to travel is June to August and December to February, when conditions are generally drier for both Maasai Mara game viewing and Bwindi gorilla trekking, with clear skies and comfortable temperatures.
The Maasai Mara offers year-round wildlife encounters. July to mid-October are the best months for Mara River crossings during the Great Migration (when large numbers of tourists are present). Alternatively, the 'Secret Season' (late October-April) provides lush landscapes, abundant predator action on new calves, and significantly lower visitor numbers for an exclusive, tranquil experience.

Day 1 – Nairobi (Karen): Arrive at JKIA, private transfer to Karen area accommodation, check in and relax for the evening.
Day 2 – Maasai Mara: Check out after breakfast, transfer to Wilson Airport, scheduled flight to the Mara, transfer into the reserve, check in to your tented camp area, and afternoon game drive.
Day 3 – Maasai Mara: Full safari day with morning and afternoon game drives, returning to camp between outings.
Day 4 – Maasai Mara: Another full day of game viewing across the reserve’s key habitats, with flexible pacing around wildlife activity.
Day 5 – Maasai Mara: Final day in the Mara with morning and afternoon game drives.
Day 6 – Maasai Mara → Nairobi → Entebbe: Check out, transfer to airstrip, scheduled flight to Nairobi (Wilson), road transfer to JKIA, flight to Entebbe, meet-and-transfer to Entebbe accommodation.
Day 7 – Entebbe → Kisoro, southern Bwindi (Rushaga): Early road transfer to Entebbe Airport, scheduled flight to Kisoro, coffee experience on an organic farm, transfer to Rushaga, overnight near Bwindi.
Day 8 – Bwindi (Rushaga): Gorilla trekking day, return to your accommodation for lunch and a restful afternoon.
Day 9 – Bwindi (Rushaga): Leisure day at the forest edge to soak up the highland atmosphere (vehicle/guide only if pre-arranged).
Day 10 – Bwindi → Entebbe (Departure): Check out early, transfer to Kisoro airstrip, scheduled flight to Entebbe, transfer to a hotel for lunch, then onward to Entebbe Airport for departure.
