HAND-MADE EXPERIENTIAL SAFARIS

Trust us to find you the rarest animals, the most spectacular wildlife events, the remotest landscapes and deeply meaningful cultural encounters!

This brief safari delivers two of Zimbabwe’s most popular destinations

Victoria Falls - Mosi-oa-Tunya (the smoke that thunders) - is one of Africa’s most iconic destinations and deservedly on many bucket lists. That awe-inspiring vertical drop of 108m into the chasm below and the mist spray curtain during the full flood that can be seen and heard from afar - the stuff of legends.

And then there is Hwange - Zimbabwe’s largest national park and a favourite safari destination for many experienced bush lovers - because of extremely rewarding game viewing

Victoria Falls & Hwange - the perfect Zimbabwe combo safari

Highlights

  • Stay in Zimbabwe’s largest game reserve - Hwange National Park. Enjoy walking safaris, day and night drives, and wildlife viewing from unique logpile hides overlooking natural waterholes.

  • See Big game and rare wildlife encounters - massive elephant and buffalo herds, lions, cheetahs, wild dogs, and rare antelope species, plus over 400 bird species, guided by expert safari teams in a private concession.

  • Explore Victoria Falls – The Smoke That Thunders - See this UNESCO World Heritage Site up close with guided tours, capturing the sights, sounds, and sheer majesty of one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World.

  • Relax on a Zambezi River sunset cruise - spotting hippos, crocodiles, elephants, and flocks of birds while enjoying drinks and snacks against a spectacular African sunset.

  • Take part in adventure & Cultural Experiences - from bungee jumping and Devil’s Pool excursions to visits to local villages and markets, experience thrilling activities and authentic encounters that showcase Zimbabwean life and conservation impact.

Locations and lodges

  • Hwange National Park is Zimbabwe’s oldest and largest reserve. It blends Kalahari scrub, teak forests, salt pans, and granite hills. Expect prolific wildlife in Hwange – vast elephant herds, buffalo, lions, cheetahs, and wild dogs, alongside over 400 bird species. Guided walks and rewarding night drives reveal rarities like aardvark and pangolin.

  • Victoria Falls – Africa's adventure capital – marks the spot where the mighty Zambezi River gathers its strength and tumbles into dramatic gorges 100 metres below: the single largest continuous falling curtain of water in the world. To immerse yourself in that thumping energy of the Smoke that Thunders is to recharge your batteries. Victoria Falls is rightly on most safari bucket lists – you could spend weeks there and enjoy a new experience every day.

  • 4 nights at Camp Hwange: a traditional bush camp with eight thatched, canvas-walled units overlooking a natural waterhole in Hwange National Park.

  • 3 nights at Ilala Lodge Hotel: a family-run hotel just an 8-minute walk from Victoria Falls, with easy access to various attractions.

Timing

Zimbabwe is a year-round destination, though the dry season from May to October offers the best wildlife viewing as animals concentrate around limited water and Hwange is at its peak during this time.  The dry season also coincides with lower Zambezi River water levels at Victoria Falls, ensuring a clear view of the Falls, exciting river rafting, and less spray to fog your camera lens.

The rainy season months (December to March/April) are excellent for bird-watchers looking to make the most of the influx of migratory species, as well as for seeing plenty of wildlife babies and predator action as the big cats focus on young prey. During these months, higher Zambezi River levels and more spray at Victoria Falls result in dramatic scenes that are not as clearly visible as they are during the dry months.

You can enjoy this safari at any time of year, with careful planning. Our safari experts will help you make the best timing decision.
