Entebbe is a vibrant city located on the shores of Lake Victoria in Uganda, known for its lush gardens, rich history, stunning views, and excellent restaurants. It is a gateway for travellers moving in and out of Uganda, as it is home to the country's main international airport, Entebbe International Airport.
Entebbe is a short drive (traffic-dependent) from Kampala, the capital city of Uganda, which offers urban attractions such as markets, museums, and cultural sites.
With that in mind, we have created our list of favourite things to do in Entebbe:
One of the most popular attractions in Entebbe is the beautiful Entebbe Botanical Gardens, which showcases a variety of giant trees and other tropical plants. This serene environment offers leisurely walks and picnics - ideal for getting over jet lag or relaxing after your safari. The gardens and associated lake shore are also an excellent spot for birdwatching, as they host numerous bird species - a great way to kick off your trip bird list!
For those looking to relax, the beaches along Lake Victoria provide a perfect setting for sunbathing and enjoying water activities and sunset cheese and wine boat cruises. You can take boat rides, go fishing, or unwind by the water's edge.
There are several excellent restaurants and coffee shops, including
Muti for pizza in a relaxing garden setting
Goretti’s for lake-side beach and pizza
Gorilla Conservation Coffee for excellent locally grown coffee with a conservation benefit
Faze 3 for Indian food and views of the lake
CJ's for decent, quick meals
The Rolex Guy for delicious posh wraps
Nearby attractions include:
Mabamba Swamp, for a morning outing to find the iconic shoebill (one of Africa's top bird sightings)
Ngamba Island on Lake Victoria - home to a sanctuary for orphaned chimpanzees.
This will only take a moment and yet the information will enable us to begin handcrafting your safari of a lifetime. Or book a call with a safari expert.
Why choose us to craft your safari?
Handcrafted experiential safaris since 1991.
Travel in Africa is about knowing when and where to go, and with whom. A few weeks too early/late or a few kilometres off course, and you could miss the greatest show on Earth. And wouldn’t that be a pity?
