OUR CHARGES

The price you see includes all services rendered by us and we only generate revenue once and if you book one of our safaris. Going directly to any of the lodges and other suppliers in our safari packages will not save you money because we earn discounts from suppliers based on the volume of business that we generate for them.

Enjoy the best of Zambia’s Kafue National Park in these flexible packages that showcase the best of this vast, remote wilderness.

Kafue is massive – at 22,400 km² it’s larger than South Africa’s Kruger National Park. The network of deciduous miombo woodland and grassy floodplains is a paradise for safari-goers who prefer areas less explored. And the presence of elephant, buffalo, lion, leopard, cheetah, painted wolf (African wild dog) and hyena in addition to many antelope species means that game drives can be very rewarding.

Our packages offer exciting opportunities to explore a range of Kafue ecosystems via land and water-based activities, at prices to suit most budgets.

Central Kafue  – 2 lodges over 6 days

Days 1 and 2

You will be met at Lusaka’s Kenneth Kaunda International Airport or your Lusaka hotel by an Africa Geographic representative and transferred by vehicle to Mukambi Safari Lodge, a four-hour drive.  Alternatively, you will be dropped off at a nearby airport for your flight to Chunga Airstrip in Kafue, and a short game drive to your lodge.

You will spend your days exploring this paradise on the banks of the Kafue River in central Kafue National Park, by way of game drives and walking safaris, which involve crossing the Kafue River into the national park. You may also wish to visit the nearby Mukambi Community School or take a boat cruise along the Kafue River to spot hippo, crocodile and many bird species. Early-morning game drives focus on finding elephant and predators as well as enjoying the rich diversity of antelope and birdlife. A coffee break to best enjoy the rising sun allows you to stretch your legs, and of course, a delicious hot breakfast awaits after your morning activity. Evening game drives always include the great safari tradition of enjoying drinks while watching the setting sun – and spotlighting nocturnal species such as hyena, the big cats, honey badger and civet. Early morning bush walks are an excellent way to enjoy the smaller wildlife species and to understand how this intricate ecosystem functions.

Between activities, you can relax at the lodge pool with a book, or catch up on some sleep in your room. Meals are delicious, and the chef is likely to surprise you with a variety of delectable offerings.

Days 3 to 6

Today you will enjoy another early morning game drive or walk at Mukambi, followed by breakfast and a one and a quarter-hour game drive to Fig Tree Bush Camp, deep inside Kafue National Park. This intimate tented camp overlooking a sandy lagoon is the ideal place to explore this remote area. Regardless of how you choose to spend your time, your days will be taken up in search of the incredible variety of species that thrive in Kafue and the daily drama as the wildlife battles it out for survival in this raw, primal ecosystem.

Your last morning activity in paradise will be followed by another delicious breakfast and time to say goodbye to your wonderful hosts. Your transfer to Lusaka is either by road (four hours and forty-five minutes) or a short flight.
